Academics

I am a Clinical Ethics Fellow at the Alden March Bioethics Institute at Albany Medical College (2025-2027). In 2025, I defended my dissertation on personal identity and bioethics. My interests include personhood, personal identity, medical decision-making, disability, and LGBTQ+ ethics. My area of specialization is bioethics, and my areas of competency are in ethics & history of philosophy, particularly ancient. Although I work in clinical ethics, I maintain an active interest in philosophy and hope to teach it in some capacity in the future.

In 2015, I graduated valedictorian from St. Edward’s University (Austin, TX), where I majored in philosophy with a minor in German. I was awarded a Fulbright and DAAD scholarship, and following graduation, I taught English at a Gymnasium (German equivalent of high school) in Münster, Germany, as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant.

Outside Academics

In my free time, I enjoy traveling and exploring my environment, whether that’s through visiting new cities or just taking photos of nearby state parks. My dog’s name is Simon, and he (oddly enough) doesn’t enjoy parks as much as I do, unless they’re dog parks. He makes up for it with a love of bowties.

I am – and always have been – an avid bookworm, and I enjoy works of fiction and as well as history. I also enjoy craft beer, coffee, hiking, board games, and axe throwing – though I don’t profess to be particularly good at throwing axes. I hit the target. Most of the time.
